Privacy policy

Your rides stay yours.

Effective October 26, 2026

Rides are recorded and analyzed on your device.
No Palomares account, ads, in-app analytics or advertising tracking.
We receive a ride file only when you choose to send one.

This policy covers the Palomares app for iPhone and iPad, its TestFlight beta, this website, and feedback you send us. Palomares is made by K. Gabriel Coelho-Kostolny (“we”, “us”).

Location and sensors

While you record a ride, Palomares records GPS position and speed, motion sensors and barometer readings to work out the route, lean, corners and ride report. It uses the permissions you grant in iOS. Location recording continues with the screen locked or another app in front, until you stop the ride.

If location access is already allowed, roads near you in the Guide can use a location fix to search the bundled road library. That search happens on the device; the location isn’t sent to us.

Current builds do not record audio or request microphone access. Whole recordings saved by older builds may still contain audio.

Ride analysis runs on your device. Palomares does not automatically upload your recordings to a service we operate.

Storage and deletion

  • On your device. Recordings are saved in the app’s folder, visible in Files under On My iPhone or On My iPad.
  • In a folder you choose. If you choose an iCloud Drive sync folder, finished rides move into it so your other devices can see them. The folder is under your Apple Account; we cannot access it.
  • Deleting a ride. Deleting a ride in the app removes it from the active ride library. If that library is in iCloud Drive, the deletion affects that shared folder and its other devices.
  • Deleting the app. This removes its local app data, but does not delete rides already moved to your separate iCloud Drive folder. Files you exported and pictures or videos you saved elsewhere are separate copies too.

You control those device, cloud and exported copies. iCloud Drive is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.

Apple services and navigation

  • Apple Maps supplies map and satellite imagery and looks up road names. Requests can include map areas or points along a route. Apple processes those requests under its privacy policy.
  • Photos. Saving a ride picture or video asks for permission to add it to your photo library. Palomares does not request access to read your photo library.
  • Live Activities display ride information on the Lock Screen while recording; Palomares does not send that information to us.
  • Navigation and web search. If you choose to open a road in a navigation app or search for it on the web, the selected app or search service receives the road or destination information. Its own privacy policy applies.

Sharing pictures, videos and files

You choose whether to share a ride and which app or person receives it. Check the preview and sharing settings before sending.

  • Ride pictures and Reels draw the route without a map. Whole-ride pictures and Reels let you turn trimming of the start and finish on or off.
  • Flyovers and replay clips show map or satellite imagery. Flyovers offer optional start-and-finish trimming; a replay clip shows the selected section of the route.
  • GPX exports let you choose a trimmed route or the whole ride.
  • Whole recordings contain the files saved with the ride, including raw sensor data and its full route. Older recordings may include audio.

A route shape, a map, a road name or a note can identify a place even when the ends are trimmed. Trimming does not guarantee anonymity.

Send for review during the beta

Send for review creates a smaller copy of one ride for you to share. Sending it is optional. Creating the file does not send it automatically; you choose the destination in the share sheet.

The review copy contains the analyzed route and ride summary; the ride’s title and notes, the motorcycle’s name, and notes and answers attached to the retained corners; phone model, iOS and app version, recording settings, and a diagnostic log of what happened while recording. It leaves out the raw sensor streams and audio.

Each end of the route is cut back to a point at least 500 m, measured in a straight line, from the original start and finish. This trimming always applies to review copies, independently of the picture and video settings. Very short rides cannot be exported for review.

The remaining route can still pass near your home. A ride title, notes, answers, a motorcycle name and labels in diagnostic files may also contain identifying details. Review what you send and include only information you want us to receive.

We use submitted rides to investigate problems and improve Palomares. We do not sell submissions or use them for advertising. If you email a file to beta@palomares.app, it is also processed by the email services described below.

TestFlight

Apple handles beta installation and testing through TestFlight. Crash logs and usage information are collected automatically and shared with developers, along with device and OS details. Feedback and screenshots are shared when you submit them. If you join by email invitation, your name and email address are visible to us; joining only through a public link does not show them to us.

See Apple’s TestFlight privacy notice for the details. We use testing information to understand problems and improve the beta.

Email and feedback

The first beta uses email and TestFlight feedback. There is no separate feedback form on this site.

If you email us, we receive your sender name and address, message, attachments and the email’s delivery information. Our beta mailbox uses Zoho Mail, which processes and stores those messages and attachments to provide email. See Zoho’s privacy policy. Your own email provider also handles the message.

We use feedback to reply, investigate problems and improve the app. Sending a ride or feedback is optional and is not a condition of using the beta.

This website

This static site is prepared for hosting on GitHub Pages. It contains no analytics scripts, tracking pixels, embedded feedback form or advertising.

When the site is hosted on GitHub Pages, GitHub logs visitors’ IP addresses for security purposes. See GitHub Pages data collection and the GitHub privacy statement. This website hosting is separate from how the app stores your rides.

Retention and deletion of submissions

We keep beta emails, submitted ride files, their attachments and extracted copies through the beta. We delete the copies we control within 90 days after the beta ends.

To ask us to delete a ride or feedback you submitted, email beta@palomares.app and identify the submission. Please use the address you sent it from so we can locate it.

Requests concern the copies we control. Your own device, iCloud Drive, exported files and sent mail are separate. Apple, GitHub and email providers handle their service records and backups under their own policies.

Children

Palomares is for motorcyclists of legal riding age and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

When this policy changes, we’ll update this page and its date. Changes affecting data we receive will also be described in the app’s release notes.
